The tool is free

This is a free web utility. There is no account, no subscription, no payment. You may use it for personal, commercial, educational, or any lawful purpose.

No warranty

The tool is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Regex matching uses the browser's native ECMAScript RegExp engine, which is standard and consistent across V8, SpiderMonkey, and JavaScriptCore. However, always test your regex against production-representative edge-case inputs before shipping to production.

• This tool uses JavaScript's ECMAScript regex engine. Results may differ from PCRE (Python, PHP, Perl), .NET, or Java regex engines.
• The token explanation panel is for educational guidance. It does not perform formal regex parsing and may not identify every construct in highly complex patterns.
• ReDoS (catastrophic backtracking) is possible with certain patterns. This tool does not warn about potentially exponential patterns.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for the regex patterns you write and any actions you take based on the tool's output. We are not liable for bugs in production code, security vulnerabilities, or any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from your usage.

Acceptable use

Don't use this site to attack, scrape at high volume, frame as your own work without attribution, or violate any applicable law.

This site's HTML and client-side code is open source. You can read, fork, or self-host it. License: MIT (see the LICENSE file in the public repo). Brand assets and content text are © Plato and not covered by the code license.

Advertising

Once approved for Google AdSense, this site will serve ads. We do not control which ads are shown. Report problematic ads to Google directly.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
